But then, all the effort may sometimes be worth it once you do land your hands on the perfect pair of blue jeans! Have you ever wondered when was the first time a classic blue jean was ever worn? Well, take a trip back into time to know some interesting details associated with the history of blue jeans and how it became a part of fashion.

History of Blue Jeans:
Jeans are extremely popular especially with teenagers. Branded jeans are the ultimate style statement for many individuals. But, have you thought about the time when brands like Lee’s or Levi’s were not really hot property? How did people wear their jeans back then? Well, here’s a surprising story about your favorite pair of blue jeans.

The history of blue jean pants reveals that the fabric, denim, was initially crafted in a town near Turin called Chieri. It’s said that the raw material came originally from Nimes, a city in France. These jeans were particularly created for the sailors due to their multipurpose functionality! (And to think these are a major style statement now!) These sailors felt jeans were a versatile piece of garment. They could be worn when wet and it could even be rolled over with ease. This was particularly useful when the sailors were busy with their everyday chores and required garments that were comfortable with great durability.

Our favorite pair of blue jeans was initially worn by workers particularly during World War II. Perhaps the sturdy and durable look popularized these blue jeans amongst all the factory workers. A strange thing that can be noticed happened in the early period of the 1950s when blue jeans worn by teens was considered to be a form of protest. Besides, adults who sported the same were prohibited from even entering a movie theatre. It was only during the 1960s when blue jeans were accepted as a fashion trend in the United States of America.

The various different looks of the regular blue jeans were introduced by the mid 1950s. It was Donald Freeland who gave denim a whole new look and brought it to the forefront. Soon, the fabric and blue jeans in particular, started gaining attention. Donald Freeman soon popularized jeans, the craze for which spread like wildfire particularly amongst Americans. Originally, jeans were always worn loose. Initially, jeans worn by men had the zipper on the front, where as for women, it was on the side. By the late 60’s, the zipper finally was stitched on the front side for women as well. It was Jacob Davis, a tailor who always purchased the cloth from Levi Strauss and Company who had the brainwave of using copper rivets for the blue jeans. Levi Strauss was a merchant who sold blue jeans under the name of Levi’s. This name is also considered to be synonymous with the invention of blue jeans.

Today, there are many new designs and innovations that are being created by fashion designers to satisfy the increasing demands from denim lovers! A pair of basic blue jeans however, is one such garment that will never go out of fashion! So, do you have one in your wardrobe right now? If not, it’s time you hit the stores and don a perfect pair of blue jeans!
